1. Full Membership

Full Membership gives access to all services provided by The Gardeners Guild, inclusion in the Member Register and allows use of the member logo.

Affordable

Membership is £42 a year.
There is an initial processing fee of £10 for new members (includes 1 vehicle sticker).Total cost in year 1 is £52.
Additional member stickers are just £3.50 each. Size: 175mm x 185mm.
The Gardeners Guild is not currently registered for VAT.
1 application gives 1 entry in the member register.
Fees and subscriptions to professional bodies are allowable against UK Income Tax.
Membership is renewable annually.

Minimum Membership criteria - (Full Member)

To be accepted as a member a gardener must meet the following minimum criteria:

a. Be self-employed or the owner of their own business and;
b. Provide domestic garden maintenance as part of their services and;
c. Be exclusively dedicated to horticulture or a trade related to horticulture and;
d. Have at least one recognised horticultural qualification at Level 2 or above.

Applicants must send evidence for all of the qualifications that they claim to have with their application form. Incomplete applications will be returned.

2. Consultant Member

Consultant Members are qualified and experienced gardeners who use their knowledge to provide unbiased advice, reports, research, training and other similar services. Consultant Members often have a specialist area of interest.

Our acceptance criteria for garden consultants is among the highest in horticulture.

Consultant members receive all the benefits of Full Membership plus:
- Additional entry criteria for extra customer confidence
- The right to describe yourself as a Consultant Member of The Gardeners Guild (shorted to CMTGG)

Entry in the Member Register as a Consultant Member (in addition to an entry as a Full Contracting Member*)
* Consultant members do not have to be listed as Contractors but there is no discount if you choose to be excluded from that part of the Member Register.

Minimum Membership criteria - (Consultant Member)

Consultant Membership requires a combination of formal training and experience.

To be accepted as a Consultant Member a gardener must meet the following minimum criteria:

a. Be self-employed or the owner of their own business and;
b. Provide advice on garden maintenance as part of their services and;
c. Be exclusively dedicated to horticulture or a trade related to horticulture and;
d. Qualify for 15 or more points via a combination of experience AND at least one horticultural qualification as follows:
- HND/Foundation Degree/Bachelors Degree/Botanic Garden Diploma/RHS Masters or higher: max 10 points
- HNC/Level 4: 9 points

- Level 3 e.g. NDH, RHS Diploma/Advanced Certificate, Edexcel NCH: 7 points
- Level 2 Horticultural qualification e.g. City & Guilds, NCH, RHS Certificate: 5 points

Qualifications are not cumulative. Only the highest qualification will count.

- 1 point for each year of experience as a full time self-employed or employed horticulturalist.


Applicants must send evidence of all qualifications and evidence of all experience you claim to have. Incomplete applications will be returned.

e. All consultants will automatically be listed as general horticultural consultants. A separate category will be added for free if the applicant can prove that they have relevant experience e.g design, victorian gardens, invasive species etc. Creation of, or your inclusion in, a category is not guaranteed and will be at the sole discretion of The Gardeners Guild based on the evidence you have provided. Relevant evidence may include one or more of the following:
- A relevant qualification at a suitably high level.
- 3 references for relevant experience may be accepted in some circumstances.
- Examples of work completed.
- Membership of another trade group at consultant level i.e. Consultant member of Arboricultural Association if you want to be listed as a Tree Consultant.

Gardeners must submit evidence that they meet the above entry criteria with their application form.
